Dodgers Ink International Prospects

According to sources and Jesse Sanchez of MLB.com, the Los Angeles Dodgers has signed a pair of top international prospects, but as of this moment the team has not confirmed the deals.

Yusinel Diaz is a No.3 ranked prospect according to the MLB’s list of international prospects. Cuban second baseman Omar Estavez as well as Diaz agreed to bonuses in the range of $15.5 and $6 million. The deals are dependent on physicals, which are both pending.

Diaz is 19 years old, played one season for the Havana Indrustials, with very good numbers where he displayed his great athletic ability and hitting power as well as some great speed.

Estevez is 17 years old, he’s very skilled at second base position, with a very muscular build, with good power and showed great movement at the position, with decent arm strength.

The Dodgers has been very busy in the international market for great talent. The team has always had great scouts to search Latin America and all of the island nations in the Caribbean for the organization for raw talent. The team has had success with Cuban players in the past with Yasiel Puig and Alex Guerrero, the team also had Hector Olivera, but he was traded to the Atlanta Braves last season.

With these moves, the team has made a very strong commitment to acquiring talent to build their farm system and to become the leader in international community when it comes to having a stronger scouting system of that talent.
