The Los Angeles Dodgers have officially finalized a deal which brings Mat Latos from the Miami Marlins, and Alex Woods from the Atlanta Braves to LA.
The deal that took 24 hours to complete also includes Michael Morse from the Marlins, Jose Peraza and Jim Johnson, Luis Avilan and Bronson Arroyo from the Braves.
Unfortunately for the Dodgers, the player that they spent months trying to acquire, the Cuban prodegy, Hector Olivera will be sent to ATL.
LA will be taking on the remainder of Latos’ and Morse’s salaries, ESPN.com reports. They write the following, “Latos is making $9.5 million this season and is scheduled to be a free agent in 2016, and Morse is in the first year of a two-year, $16 million contract.”
This move will provide a No.3 starter, in the form of a veteran behind Zack Greinke and Clatyon Kershaw.
ESPN.com writes:
“Wood is 7-6 this season with a 3.54 ERA.
Latos, 27, was traded to Miami by Cincinnati this past offseason and has gone 4-7 with a 4.48 ERA in 16 starts with the Marlins.
But he has posted a 2.96 ERA in seven starts since returning from the disabled list in early June and has been outstanding over his past three starts, with a 1.80 ERA over that stretch.”
