No need for panic but this might be a time for real concern. In the 710th meeting between the two clubs, this one goes to the Houston Astros, 3-2, to finish off a three game sweep.
The main concern is the bullpen for Dodgers, after a one run lead in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Astros managed to tie the ballgame. Kelly Jansen blew a save opportunity, for only the second time this season. Chris Hatcher,(L,1-5), struck out Astros right fielder Jake Marisnick but catcher Jason Castro‘s game winning blast, won the game for Houston.
A very disappointing loss can be forgotten, the team played better since the no-hitter on Friday night but the Astros only needed nine runs, three per game, to sweep this series, as Los Angeles has been held to under four runs in the past four games. The turning point of this game was the Yasiel Puig ejection for arguing ball and strikes, if the Dodgers were able get at least one run out of the inning, the Castro homer, would have not won this game.
Los Angeles,(67-56), will now move on to Cincinnati, were they will try to end the five game skid. Alex Wood,(8-8, 3.79 ERA), will take the mound against John Lamb,(0-1, 6.35 ERA). The Dodgers now have their lead in the National League West down to only a single game, over the San Francisco Giants.
