Dodgers Enter Jon Lester Sweepstakes

According to Peter Gammons of the MLB Network, the Los Angeles Dodgers have entered the Jon Lester sweepstakes.

The Boston Red Sox, Chicago Cubs, and San Francisco Giants have been interested with Lester from the start, but the Dodgers are looking to sweep in and add the lefty to their rotation.

Lester has been linked to multiple teams this offseason but nothing as come to fruition.  It is important to realize that current Dodgers general manager Farhan Zaidi traded for Lester at the trade deadline when he worked for the A’s. Zaidi may try to use that relationship to his advantage and get Lester to head to Southern California.

While the Dodgers have not made any major moves this offseason, Zaidi spoke to reports about the matter.

“Having that base of depth gives you the opportunity to make more aggressive, needle-moving moves as the offseason goes on,” Zaidi said.

Could Lester be the needle-moving move for the Dodgers? Only time will tell!
