Dodgers comeback to beat Baltimore, 7-5
- Updated: July 5, 2016
The Los Angeles Dodgers opened up a three-game series with the Baltimore Orioles with a 7-5 win. The streak is now at five games with the win.
The Baltimore Orioles made a rare appearance at Chavez Ravine to take on the Blue Crew. This was the first meeting between the two teams since 2013.
The Orioles jumped out to a three-run lead in the top of the second inning, as Dodgers starter Julio Urias did not have the stuff going, and he departed this game in the third inning. Urias gave up five earned runs on six hits and only struck out three. Joe Blanton (W,4-2), picked up the win in relief, as the bullpen shut down the Orioles offense.
The Dodgers used the long ball in the bottom of the second inning to pull closer to the lead on back to back homers from Yasiel Puig and Yasmani Grandal. After the O’s scored their final run in the top of the fourth inning, the Dodgers answered the call again. Chase Utley and Corey Seager both drove in runs to cut the deficit to only a run, at 5-4. In the sixth inning, the Dodgers got even on Chase Utley’s second RBI single that drove in Will Venable. The Dodgers took the lead for good in the seventh inning and added some insurance in the eighth on a double from Howie Kendrick, scoring Chris Taylor for the final run of the game. Kenley Jansen (S,25) came on in the bottom of the ninth struck out two of the three batters he faced.
The final play of the game was very unusual and rare, as Jansen called off the catcher and caught an Adam Jones pop-fly, ending the game and preserving the fifth straight win for Los Angeles.
BLUE NOTES:

Former Dodgers Manager Davey Johnson was just a rookie on the O’s that season.
DODGERS ON DECK:
