Fien is a former 20th round pick of the Detroit Tigers in the 2006 MLB draft. Originally from Santa Rosa, he played his college ball at Cal Poly State.
After two years with the Tigers he has spent the last five years with the Minnesota Twins. Last season he appeared in 62 games and posted a 3.55 ERA.
So far this season he has struggled. In 14 games he has a 7.90 ERA. With Los Angeles looking for bullpen help Fien may be able to get on the right track and make a contribution.
