Dodgers Beat Arizona, 3-2

Dodgers

The Los Angeles Dodgers had another outstanding start from Clayton Kershaw and some timely hitting, to defeat the Arizona Diamondbacks 3-2.

Clayton Kershaw (W,10-1), with eleven strikeouts, and only one walk on one-hundred and four pitches thrown, Kershaw lowered his ERA to a mind-blowing 1.58. He made only one mistake, a solo-shot off the bat of Rickie Weeks, in the bottom fo the second inning. Arizona did pick up another run in the bottom of the sixth inning, but this proved to be the team’s final run.

In the top of the sixth inning, Scott Van Slyke hit his first homer of the season, a three-run shot to left, that scored Adrian Gonzalez and Howie Kendrick. The runs would be all the Dodgers needed. Joe Blanton (H,7), got the final outs in the bottom of the eight after Kershaw departed the game. Kelly Jansen (S,19), pitched the ninth and struck a pair of D-Backs to finish the game and secured the win for the Dodgers.

BLUE NOTES:

The Dodgers defense looked good, despite two errors. Kershaw committed his first of the season and Corey Seager committed his ninth. Seager is now fifth in the majors with nine errors, the major league leader has thirteen.

DODGERS ON DECK:

The team will return home today to face the Milwaukee Brewers to start a four-game weekend series. Scott Kazmir (5-3, 4.52 ERA), will take the mound in the first game of the series. He will be facing Junior Guerra
(3-1, 3.31 ERA) for the Brew Crew. The win for the Dodgers (35-32), keeps them in second place in the National League West, still six full games behind the San Francisco Giants.
