Dodgers Avoid Sweep, Beat Phillies 5-4

The Los Angeles Dodgers avoided being swept as they beat the Philadelphia Phillies 5-4 on Thursday night. Los Angeles snapped a four game losing streak with the win.

For Los Angeles Kenta Maeda got the start. He pitched 3 innings allowing 3 hits and 2 runs. He walked 2 and struck out 3 as he was awarded a no decision.

On the other side Mark Leitier got the start. He pitched 6 innings allowing 5 hits and 3 runs, 1 earned. He walked 1 and struck out 3 as he picked up a no decision.

The offense got started in the 1st inning when Yasiel Puig hit a sacrifice fly that brought in Chris Taylor. In the 3rd inning Curtis Grandson reached on a throwing error that brought in Cody Bellinger.

Philadelphia got on the board in the 3rd inning. Nick Williams hit his 11th home run of the year. His two-run shot brought in Cesar Heramdez.

It was Rhys Hoskins who hit a 2-run double that brought in Hernandez and Freddy Galvis and Philadelphia led 4-2. Granderson hit a solo home run in the 6th inning and Andre Ethier hit a solo shot of his own to tie the game at 4-4. Bellinger grounded out that brought in Taylor and the Dodgers held a 5-4.

Kenley Jansen picked up his 39th save of the year.
