Dodgers Acquire Josh Reddick and Rich Hill From Oakland

@MLBreports

In one of many trades today in baseball, the Los Angeles Dodgers have acquired left-handed hitting outfielder Josh Reddick and left-handed starting pitcher Rich Hill from the Oakland Athletics.

Going to the Athletics are right-hand pitchers Grant Holmes, Frankie Montas and Jharel Cotton.

Grant Holmes was the Dodgers 1st round pick in 2014, 22nd overall and was ranked as the #72 overall prospect in baseball by Baseball America

Frankie Montas was acquired in the three team deal that brought Micah Johnson and Trayce Thompsons to the Dodgers from the White Sox. He is currently on the disabled list with a rib injury.

Jharel Cotton was drafted by the Dodgers in the 20th round of the 2012 draft and wasn’t ranked.

This is a hard trade to swallow, it seems the Dodgers are giving up a lot of talent for two possible rentals this year but all three pitchers we’re giving up, even though they have potential are just that, potential.

Holmes has control problems, Montas can’t seem to stay healthy and needs to develop a 3rd pitch to be better than a #5 starter and Cotton has taken big steps back as a starter this year and was relegated to the OKC Dodgers bullpen.

Rich Hill will help bolster our starting rotation the rest of the way and Reddick will more than likely move over in LF since we have no idea when Andre Ethier will be back and even if he is, will he be effective? That’s the big question.

Yeah..there’s going to be a lot of upset and confused Dodger fans out there.
