Rosenthal provided further information on the deal.
#Dodgers wanted to upgrade vs. LHP and view Ruiz as having similar leadership qualities to Ellis. Ruiz .830 OPS vs. LHPs, Ellis .616.

Rosenthal continued.
Ellis big part of #Dodgers’ fabric, but he was batting .194 with a .537 OPS. He’s also 35; wasn’t going to be Kershaw’s catcher forever.

Many people were confused on the trade.
Still, as others have noted, the reaction of Kershaw and others will be interesting. Some with #Dodgers had noted team’s improved chemistry.

A.J. Ellis was a clubhouse favorite among his teammates and will be missed by the fans. What do think Dodgers fans? Do you think the move was the right choice.
