Do The Dodgers Have To Make A Move At The Deadline?

@LakersGrrrrl

As the trade deadline approaches us the Los Angeles Dodgers currently sit at second in the NL West only 1 game behind the San Francisco Giants, and atop the NL Wild Card spot. But does the club need to make a move before the trade deadline?

The Dodgers have been linked to looking at some starting pitching which we all know could help. The status and return date for Clayton Kershaw is unknown at the time and Brett Anderson, Alex Wood, and Hyun jin-Ryu are all struggling with injuries.

Los Angeles is reportedly looking into another relief pitcher in Wade Davis.In the offseason the Dodgers nearly acquired the flame throwing Aroldis Chapman but backed out after the domestic violence situation. The New York Yankees swooped in and picked him up and eventually flipped to him to the Chicago Cubs from some high level prospects.

Now that the Chicago Cubs who already own the league’s best record, added the best closer in the game, does that make them the favorites to win it all this year? Do the Dodgers need to counter in order to be able to compete in the playoffs?

I think the Dodgers need not to worry about teams in other divisions but merely focus winning the division. Although the club has won the division each of the last three years and it hasn’t equalled playoff success I still think that having that advantage will eventually pay dividends.

The club should look for a starting pitcher that can help them down the stretch and possibility into the future especially with the uncertainty of  Kershaw.
