Derek Norris Hits Padres To Victory Over Dodgers 3-1

Derek Norris drove in two runs and the San Diego Padres beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 3-1 Sunday afternoon. The Padres were able to avoid the sweep with the victory today.
For the Padres Brandon Morrow got the start. He had a strong outing as he pitched 7 innings allowing 5 hits and one run while striking out 4. He walked one batter and picked up his first win of the season.
For the Dodgers Scott Baker got the spot start. He pitched 7 innings as well allowing 4 hits and 3 runs while striking out 6. He walked two batters and picked up the loss.
The Padres got on the board first in the 3rd inning. Alexi Amarista hit his first home run of the season. A solo shot to right field that gave the Padres a 1-0 lead.
In the 4th inning Norris hit a RBI double that brought in Matt Kemp. It was Norris’ 9th double of the young season.
Alex Guerrero got the start at third base for the Dodgers. He hit his 5th home run of the season in the 5th inning. A solo shot to left center to cut into the Padres lead 2-1.
In the 7th inning Norris hit his first home run of the season. A solo shot to left field and the Padres improved their lead to 3-1.
Joaquin Benoit came on in the 8th inning in relief. Craig Kimbrel pitched the 9th inning and picked up his 6th save of the season.
The Padres will host the Houston Astros tomorrow night, while the Dodgers host the defending champion San Francisco Giants.
