This is the first time in Jordan’s career that he’s made an All-NBA team. Yesterday he made the All-NBA defensive team for the first time in his career.
This season Jordan finished third in Defensive Player of the Year Voting to many people’s surprise. He led the league in rebounding at 15 a game and also finished in the in the top 5 in blocks per game at 2.23.
Jordan broke an NBA record for highest field goal percentage in NBA history this year as well. He shot 71% from the field, far more effective than any other player in the league. We’ll just forget the fact that it was all dunks and layups, if it ain’t broke don’t fix it. His free throw is broke but that’s a whole nother story.
Jordan averaged 11 points, 15, rebounds, and 2.2 blocks per game this season. When his counterpart Blake Griffin went down with a staph infection and was forced to miss time Jordan took his game to the next level.
He rattled off a streak of 20+ rebound games that helped the Clippers stay a float during Griffin’s absence in the tough Western Conference.
Jordan will become a unrestricted free agent on July 1st. His free agent status will be one of the major decisions for the Clippers to make this summer although Doc Rivers has already stated that team intends to offer Jordan a max contract.
Congratulations DeAndre Jordan well deserved!
