The shot that was heard around the NBA came from Anthony Davis tonight as the Los Angeles Lakers battled back to beat the Denver Nuggets, 105-103.
With time running out, a true buzzer-beater three-pointer gave the Lakers a two-game lead in the Western Conference finals. Davis was simply clutch scoring 31 points with his last 10 points coming late in the fourth quarter. This game was another nail-biter, the Nuggets led the Lakers 101-100 with 31 seconds left in the game. Davis gave the Lakers the lead back 102-101, with 26 seconds left after Nikola Jokic made his shot. Jokic took back the lead for the Nuggets 103-102 on a 10-foot shot. Davis won this game with his 26-foot three-pointer.
This was a game that the Lakers needed because the Nuggets were hanging around all night until the end. LeBron James scored 26 points and grabbed 11 boards. The Lakers bench was sparked by the play of Alex Caruso’s 9 points that included one great dunk. Dwight Howard battled Jokic and ended up with five fouls and a technical as his play got a bit rough.
This was also a very sloppy game as well with both teams over 20 turnovers, 23 for the Lakers, and 20 for the Nuggets.
Game three will be played on Tuesday night, as the Lakers will try to extend their lead to three games.
