D’Angelo Russell Scores Career High, Lakers Fall In OT

@Lakers

D’Angelo Russell set a new career high but the Los Angeles Lakers fell in overtime 123-122. The Minnesota Timberwolves and Los Angeles Lakers saw a passing of the torch as Kobe Bryant and Kevin Garnett watched the two young teams battle in overtime.

Russell hit big shots in the fourth quarter and ended up with a team high 23 points. Julius Randle also chipped in 20 points and 12 rebounds off the bench.

Lou Williams had a complete game with 19 points, 5 assists, and 7 rebounds. Jordan Clarkson added 14 points, and Nick Young had 13. Bryant also reached double figures with 11 points.

For Minnesota Kevin Martin led the way with 37 points. Karl-Anthony Towns had a double-double with 26 points and 14 rebounds.

Andrew Wiggins reached double figures with 19, and Shabazz Muhammad had 15 points in 15 minutes off of the bench.

The story of the night was Bryant sitting in the fourth as he wanted the youngsters to get a chance in crunch time. D’Angelo Russell took full advantage of this opportunity and forced overtime with a clutch basketball at the end of regulation.

The Lakers defense was once again poor as they allowed Minnesota to shoot 52% from the field. However, Los Angeles did have 30 assists in the game which is a testament to their ball movement.

Up next for the Lakers they will take on the San Antonio Spurs in Texas on Friday night.
