@NBAcom

Damian Lillard set a career high in assists, and the Los Angeles Lakers were unable to hang with the Portland Trail Blazers on Sunday night as they fell 107-93.

The Lakers had balanced scoring last night. Jordan Clarkson had 19 points in 4 rebounds, while Kobe Bryant added 18 points. D’Angelo Russell had a strong performance. He had 13 points, 6 assists, and 9 rebounds.

Julius Randle also reached double figures with a double-double. He had 13 points and 13 rebounds. Lou Williams reached double-digits off the bench with 14 points.

Portland who is lead by the backcourt didn’t disappoint fans at Staples Center. Lillard had 30 points, 13 assists, and 9 rebounds. C.J. MCCollum had 19 points, while Mason Plumlee had a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds.

Al-Farouq Aminu reached double figures with 10 points. Maurice Harkless also reached double-figures with 10 points.

Los Angeles shot just 36% from the field, a clip that will not get the job done on any night. To compare Portland shot almost 50% from the field. The Lakers defense was subpar as usual.

The Lakers did win the rebounding category by 8. They won the offensive rebound category by 8 but weren’t able to result in a victory.

Things will not get any easier as Los Angeles takes on Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors on Tuesday night.
