Cubs Hand Urias First Career Loss, Dodgers Fall 7-2

Dodgers rookie prospect made his second career start on Thursday afternoon at Wrigley Field but the power of the Chicago Cubs handed him his first career loss 7-2.

Urias who was on a 90 pitch pitch limit for this afternoon’s game lasted 5 innings allowing 8 hits, 6 runs, 5 earned while striking out 4. He did allow three home runs today as well.

On the other side Kyle Hendricks got the start. He pitched 8 innings allowing 3 hits and 2 runs. He struck out 6 and allowed a home run as he picked up his 4th win of the season.

The offense got started in the 2nd inning when Javier Baez hit a RBI single to center field. This brought in Anthony Rizzo gave the Cubs a 1-0 lead. Jesus Montero grounded out to second to bring in Jorge Soler and after two the Cubs led 2-0.

In the 4th inning Baez hit a 2-run shot to push the lead to 4-0. Tracye Thompson hit a solo shot in the 5th inning to put the Dodgers on the board as they trailed 4-1.

The 5th inning is where a few mistake pitches got to the rookie. Jason Heyward hit a solo shot to right field and Kris Bryant followed with a solo shot to left center off of the new scoreboard to push the Cubs led to 6-1.

Corey Seager hit a sacrifice fly in the 6th inning that brought in Enrique Hernandez and the cut the lead to 6-2. Rizzo hit a solo shot of his own in the 8th inning that pushed the lead to 7-2 and the Dodgers were unable to overcome the deficit.

The Dodgers will be at home tomorrow night to take on the Atlanta Braves. First pitch is set for 7:10 p.m. PST
