Clippers Win Third Straight In 116-111 Win Over Spurs
- Updated: November 16, 2018
The Los Angeles Clippers entered Thursday night’s matchup against the San Antonio Spurs with some serious momentum in their favor. With massive back to back wins against the Bucks and then the Warriors, confidence for this group couldn’t be much higher. On the other hand the Spurs came into the game with back to back losses on their record.
The difference in momentum was apparent early on. The Clippers got everyone involved with the bench actually outscoring the starters throughout the majority of the first half, at one point being responsible for 27 of the team’s 44 points.
The bench continued to be a factor in this game as energetic play from none other than Montrezl Harrell and Lou Williams was unmatched by a Spurs bench led by some stars of their own in Rudy Gay and Patty Mills. Harrell brought his signature hustle all game long but never was it more evident than the first half, where the big man bullied his way to the rim constantly.

Harrell closed the game out with 14 points, 6 rebounds and a surprising 5 assists as he showed off his vision a bit. Even with such a great performance, Harrell wasn’t even the Clippers most stellar bench member. That honor belongs yet again to Williams.
Williams was absolutely stunning for Los Angeles as he managed 23 points, all of which came at crucial moments for a Clippers team that counts on the guards scoring late in contests. Leading all NBA players in fourth quarter scoring, Williams yet again came through in crunch time for his squad. The Spurs cut the Clippers once robust lead to just one late in the fourth quarter and that’s when Williams decided to turn it on.

He knocked in 9 points in the final quarter of play and led the Clippers to a 116-111 victory.
Los Angeles’ next game will see them traveling to Brooklyn to take on the Nets at the Barclays Center. Coming into Brooklyn with a winning streak the team will hope to extend that streak to 4 against a struggling Nets team on Saturday.
