Clippers Win Battle With Sixers 112-100
- Updated: March 11, 2017
Coming in to this contest Clippers Head Coach Doc Rivers said the best attribute of this Philadelphia 76ers teams was their fight. That fight was absolutely on display in this one.
Minus Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons not many feel very threatened by the cellar dwelling 76ers. While they don’t quite have star power, there are some really talented young players on this team that made life very difficult for Los Angeles all afternoon.
Richaun Holmes the 23 year-old backup Forward out of Bowling Green came to play for Philadelphia against the daunting Los Angeles bigs. Being matched up with the likes of Blake Griffin, DeAndre Jordan and Mo Speights didn’t faze Holmes as he finished his afternoon with 24 points and 9 rebounds.
While Holmes was performing well on the block for the Sixers, the Clippers bigs weren’t to be overshadowed. DeAndre Jordan got off to a hot start recording a double-double in just the first half.
DeAndre Jordan has a first half double double with 15pts & 11rebs. Also has 3asts, 1stl, and 2blks.

Jordan finished with 19 points, 20 rebounds and 3 blocks. Jordan showed his hustle on the boards, but Griffin hustled on defense. Though not typically a side of the ball he shines on, Griffin finished with 3 steals all of which came on great efforts from the Forward. To go with those steals, Griffin would end up with 15 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists challenging the young Croatian Dario Saric that was tasked with guarding him.
Saric wasn’t the only Sixers player that struggled with his matchup Saturday. 24 year-old Point Guard TJ McConnell matched up with Chris Paul and it did not go well for the former Wildcat. Paul was the best player on the floor and looked determined to get the win, particularly in the third quarter where he scored 11 points and willed his team back into the lead. A lead which the team never would lose again. Paul was the player of the day for Los Angeles ending his game with 30 points and 7 assists.
Los Angeles held on for a tightly contested 112-100 win against this up and coming Philadelphia squad that could be a force to be reckoned with in the future.
A much needed win for the Clippers who have a game with massive playoff implications looming. The Utah Jazz are up on Monday in a battle for seeding in the Western Conference.
