Clippers Use Three Ball To Beat Jazz 109-104
- Updated: December 27, 2015
The Los Angeles Clippers nailed thirteen three pointers on Saturday night to beat the Utah Jazz in their first game without Blake Griffin.
For those who didn’t get a chance to check it out Connor Aylward asked Santa for a minor Blake Griffin injury and well he got just what he asked for. It was announced hours before the game that Griffin is suffering from a torn quad tendon and is expected to miss one to two weeks.
In their first test without their lead scoring option Josh Smith got the start and the Clippers responded in a positive way. J.J. Redick led the way with 25 points, and Chris Paul recorded a double-double with 19 points and 11 assists.
DeAndre Jordan thrived when Griffin went down last season also played well. He scored 14 points and grabbed 13 rebounds.
Paul Pierce had his best game as a Clipper when he scored 20 points off the bench. Pierce and Redick combined for 10/14 behind the line.
For Utah Gordon Hayward came to play. He scored 28 points to go along with 5 assists and 6 rebounds. Rodney Hood chipped 15 points and Joe Ingles reached double figures off the bench with 14 points.
Alec Burks also reached double figures off the bench with 11 points. The three ball was the big difference in this game. Even though Utah shot 10/27 from deep, the Clippers connecting on 13/26 was too much for the Jazz to handle.
Los Angeles will continue their road trip when they take on John Wall and the Washington Wizards tomorrow night at 4:00 p.m. PST
