Clippers Sliding As Warriors Get To Full Strength

Clippers

With 4 losses in their last 5 games the LA Clippers came into Staples Center Friday night with hopes of snapping their skid.

The problem being their opponent was the defending champion Golden State Warriors whom only got stronger heading into this one with All-Star DeMarcus Cousins making his season debut. The Clippers on the other hand learned they would be without one of their leading scorers in Lou Williams and lost Danilo Gallinari to back spasms in the first quarter.

Even with all that it was an impressive performance from LA. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Tobias Harris showed out for their club.

The rookie, Gilgeous-Alexander put together a career-high 24 point performance in what was his most impressive game so far. His aggressiveness getting to the basket created shot opportunities he hasn’t seen all season. It also created free throw opportunities of which he took advantage, going a perfect 10-10 from the line on the night. Defensively the 20 year-old had 3 steals and did so going against some of the better scorers the Warriors had to offer.

Harris started this game like he was shot out of a cannon, notching 13 points in the opening quarter. Harris, like Gilgeous-Alexander, also took his game to the rim and got to the line more than he has all season, shooting 11-12 from the charity stripe. Harris closed out the game leading the team in scoring with 28 points and 9 rebounds with the always competitive Draymond Green playing opposite him.

The Clippers played well but at the end of the day it just wasn’t enough to keep up with the Warriors star-studded lineup. Steph Curry led the way with 28 points despite having a poor night from beyond the arc. Meanwhile Kevin Durant knocked in 24 points and Cousins put in 14.

Golden State pulled away late to come out on top 112-94.

This gives the Clippers their fifth straight loss as they hit the road to San Antonio to take on the Spurs Sunday.
