Clippers Trade Up To Pick Mfiondu Kabengele

Clippers

Welcome to draft night Clippers Nation!

Last year LA made a splash trading around to wind up with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Jerome Robinson in the first round of the NBA Draft. This season, the Clippers front office decided to stay consistent and move around again.

LA gave up a first round pick in the 2020 draft and this years 56th pick to move into the 27th position.

With the 27th pick, the LA Clippers select Mfiondu Kabengele. The Center out of Florida State is an energetic big that averaged 13.2 points. 5.9 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game for the Seminoles. At 6’10” and 250 pounds, the big man possesses an impressive 7’3″ wingspan.

For a big man, Kabengele did something many bigs struggle with, shooting, and doing so very well going 73% from the free throw line. That shooting stroke carried through in other places as the 21 year-old also shot 37% from beyond the arc.

Kabengele was the 2019 ACC Sixth Man of the year, and figures to bring that same energy and passion to an LA team that thrives off of playing with that kind of energy.

The Clippers still have one more selection left at 48th in tonight’s draft as of now. Thanks for following along Clippers fans.
