Clippers Overpower Suns 108-95

Clippers

Not every win is going to be a pretty one. In the absence of stars like Blake Griffin, Pat Beverly and Danilo Gallinari for the Clippers and Devin Booker for the struggling Suns this game was destined to be a bit of a stinker.

For the Suns this matchup was more than a stinker, it was downright awful. Phoenix couldn’t get shots to fall from anywhere on the court. Going just 35% from the field and 20% from beyond the arc, the Suns simply didn’t have it Wednesday night at Staples Center. Their leading scorer was TJ Warren whom is primarily known for his defense but was able to put in 22 points on the night.

The Clippers on the other hand were having fun. The vision of rookie guard Milos Teodosic created opportunities for his teammates that were sorely missed in his absence earlier this season. The 30 year-old Serbian is learning early in his NBA career that a quick way to wake up the fans is to throw a lob up to one of his high-flying big men.

DeAndre Jordan was a beneficiary of his superior passing abilities but he was able to get many more involved. Teodosic finished the game with 8 assists and 5 rebounds to go with just 6 points.

Jordan wasn’t the only Clippers player to reap the rewards of Teodosic’s dimes as Austin Rivers and Lou Williams put up a great night of scoring for the backcourt. Williams continued his pursuit of yet another sixth man of the year award with 18 off the bench. Rivers shot the lights out in the third quarter and provided some highlights of his own.

Rivers closed out his night with 21 points and 6 assists.

With Rivers and Williams helping Teodosic in the backcourt, Jordan was left all alone in the post. That was bad news for a Suns team that lacks an identity in the block. Jordan took advantage and put up a monster double-double with 12 points and 20 rebounds.

Despite a late spurt in the fourth quarter the Clippers were able to hold on and get a much needed 108-95 win at home.

This trip home was a quick one for Los Angeles as they’ll head to Houston for their next game Friday night taking on former star guard Chris Paul and the Rockets. Paul has been injured as of late and missed his team’s game Wednesday with an injury and his status for the game Friday is currently unknown.
