Clippers Lineup Bonanza
- Updated: July 11, 2019
The excitement is in the air and at this time of the year every team and fan base thinks they have a shot at the Larry O’Brien trophy next season. But with the off-season the LA Clippers have had there’s more to it than the previously had foolish optimism.
To have a real shot at winning the title though, the lineups have to be just right. So we’re going to take a guess at what we think will be the best lineups for the Clippers in the 2019-2020 season and how these will impact the play of the team.
Starters
This is the glamorous one, here’s who I think gets the ever coveted starting nods.
PG: Patrick Beverley
SG: Landry Shamet
SF: Paul George
PF: Kawhi Leonard
C: Ivica Zubac
Sans Lou Williams and Montrezl Harrell since they relish their bench roles, this is the best starting five the squad could roll out. The guard spots have two solid 3 and D players, the forwards are the two superstars and Zubac at center is an improving commodity that even at his current level was good enough to put up 9.4 points and 7.7 rebounds per game with the team last season.
Bench Squad
For the sake of this article let’s assume this is hockey and you have to do a shift change, which if you’ve been watching Doc coach this team long enough it isn’t a stretch to get there.
PG: Lou Williams
SG: Rodney McGruder
SF: Mo Harkless
PF: Jamychal Green
C: Montrezl Harrell
This was a tough one to pick. Leaving out summer league standout Terance Mann and former first round pick Jerome Robinson was a struggle but at the end of the day, Doc likes his vets and this lineup right here gives you a group of exactly that. This squad would be consistent while also providing the type of spark needed from time to time to get over the hump.
Closers
As Lou Williams would say he’s not a starter he’s a finisher. The closing lineup is often the most important, get your best players out there at the most important time of the game.
PG: Patrick Beverley
SG: Lou Williams
SF: Paul George
PF: Kawhi Leonard
C: Montrezl Harrell
I have to admit I cracked a smile just typing out this lineup and thinking what it will do to opposing teams. You want buckets, defense, intensity, star power, clutchness IT’S ALL HERE. When the game is on the line I’m not sure there’s a better squad than this one right here in the entire NBA.
There you have it Clippers fans. This is what I project would be the best lineups for The Clippers next season. I probably could’ve gone on and done more and more lineups because this team is just so much fun to gush about but I figured I’d leave it to just these three crucial ones. So what do you think, would these get you excited?
