Clippers Hold Off Suns 124-118

Clippers

Coming off of one of their best offensive performances last night the Clippers hoped to carry some of that momentum to Phoenix Thursday night as they took on the Suns.

The young Phoenix team got even more youthful for this one as Eric Bledsoe and Tyson Chandler continue to remain on the bench due to injuries. Los Angeles was dealt an injury blow themselves before this contest as backup guard Austin Rivers was ruled out with a hamstring injury and the team is hoping he will return before the playoffs begin.

While the absence of Rivers was noticeable for the second team defense, Jamal Crawford stepped up on the other end of the floor finishing this one with 19 points. Crawford was quoted recently saying if he’s dancing then you know he’s feeling his game. It’s safe to say the three-time sixth man award winner was feeling it at Talking Stick Arena Thursday.

Crawford definitely wasn’t the only Clipper shining in Phoenix though. Chris Paul and Blake Griffin both took advantage of their young Suns counterparts throughout this matchup. Paul was all over the floor, closing out with 29 points, 10 assists and 5 rebounds. Meanwhile Griffin got his shot going early and it never slowed down as he ended up with 31 points and 7 rebounds.

As hot as the Clippers were offensively, Devin Booker was able to match that fire. Booker had a phenomenal night scoring the ball yet again, just two games removed from his 70 point performance. While he didn’t quite drop 70, Booker had his shot rolling all night long as he had 33 points and singlehandedly kept his team in the game down the stretch.

Despite Booker’s strong performance the Clippers would be too much for this growing Suns team. They would win it 124-118.

While this was a win many expected the Clippers to a get, a win on the road on the second night of a back to back will always be welcomed. This is their second straight victory and it certainly will help the team gain some momentum as they head into the final month of the regular season.

Thanks for reading along Clipper Nation. Here’s to moving that winning streak to three against the Lakers Saturday!
