Blake Griffin and the Los Angeles Clippers held off the Charlotte Hornets 99-92 tonight in a game that was much harder than in needed to be. The Clippers had a 59-41 lead heading into halftime but the Hornets made their run in the third quarter to cut the deficit to just one.

While the Clippers were coming off a tough loss to the Houston Rockets on Sunday they looked to rebound against an inferior Hornets team.

Griffin had 19 points and 11 rebounds in the win. In just his second game back since missing time with a staph infection he looks to get back in the swing of things. J.J. Redick had a strong game as he eclipsed the 20 point mark for the 16th time this season, the most in his NBA career thus far. He had a game high 23 points.

Chris Paul chipped in 21 points. He struggled shooting the ball from the field going just 6/16 but did have 8 helpers on the night.

DeAndre Jordan added a double-double. He had 12 points and 14 rebounds and Nate Robinson added 12 points off the bench.

For the Hornets they had six players in double figures. Al Jefferson lead the way with 21 points and 6 rebounds. Mo Williams had 18 points and 8 assists, while Gerald Henderson had 16 points. Off the bench Kemba Walker added 15 points, and Michael Kid-Gilchrist and Marvin Williams added 10 points respectively.

Basketball is a game of runs and tonight was no different. The Clippers held a step advantage in the three-point game as they connected on 9 threes compared to the Hornets 5.

The bench did have some struggles as Austin Rivers was 0/5 from the field. Matt Barnes did not play tonight due to hamstring injury.

The Clippers will be at it again tomorrow night as they take on DeMarcus Cousins and the Sacramento Kings in Sacramento. It will be a battle of big man as Cousins is one of the best offensive big man in the league going up the defensive stopper DeAndre Jordan.
