Clippers Glide Past Suns 128-117

Clippers

For NBA team’s there are challenging nights and then there are nights where everything just comes easily. Against the Phoenix Suns Friday, the Clippers had themselves one of those simple nights.

With changes to the starting lineup being run of the mill for the team at this point, the news of injuries to starters Danilo Gallinari and Avery Bradley didn’t seem to throw them off at all.

The Clippers shot out of the gate like a cannon and jumped out to an early 19-0 lead. They never looked back and Phoenix was playing catchup for the rest of the contest.

Tobias Harris was a big reason for the early spurt. Harris had 16 points on 5-5 shooting with 4 rebounds in the first quarter alone. The Suns didn’t do themselves any favors. Starting out the game 0-7 from the field with 3 turnovers, but with Harris shooting the lights out things were only getting worse for the home team. Harris managed to keep his solid shooting night going and finished the night a double-double consisting of 30 points and 12 rebounds going 10-15 from the field and 5-7 from beyond the arc.

Harris rolled through the first quarter but it was Lou Williams that kept the train rolling in the second. Williams continued his dominance off the bench and put in 23 points just the second quarter.

Typically once the light is on for Williams shooting wise it’s incredibly difficult to turn off and this game proved to be no different. Williams finished with a game-high 35 points in 32 minutes of play.

The high-powered Clippers offense managed to get help from everywhere in this one as the team’s starting guards also made an impact. Austin Rivers and Tyrone Wallace chipped in with some stellar stat lines of their own. Rivers finished with a team-high in assists notching 6 while also managing to put in 17 points. 2-way player Tyrone Wallace continues to make his case to remain with this team long term and this game showed exactly why he belongs. Wallace was very balance and put up 15 points to go along with 8 rebounds and 4 assists.

Phoenix put together a run late in the game after Los Angeles took their collective foot off the gas pedal but it wouldn’t be enough to claw back. The Clippers come out on top on the road winning it 128-117.

This was a solid road win for the Clippers after finding out they were going to be without 2 starters going into this contest.

The team will head to Denver for their next matchup as they’ll take on the Nuggets Tuesday.
