Clippers Deal Tobias Harris To 76ers
- Updated: February 6, 2019
While most of us slept the LA Clippers and Philadelphia 76ers were making a trade that will have a huge impact on both franchises moving forward.
Breaking: The Clippers have agreed to trade Tobias Harris, Boban Marjanovic, Mike Scott to the 76ers for Landry Shamet, Wilson Chandler, Mike Muscala, 2020 first-rounder, 2021 unprotected 1st via Miami and two second rounders, sources tell @wojespn. pic.twitter.com/j5AuuCVN5T

Moving on from Tobias Harris had to be a difficult decision for the Clippers front office as the 26 year-olf forward was having a career year. Harris has had a stellar year shooting the ball for LA, averaging a career high 20.9 points per game while putting up career high three point (43%) and field goal percentages (50%).
This gives the 76ers another legitimate scoring option they can go to in their starting lineup and also provides them with some depth in Boban Marjanovic and Mike Scott being added in.
For the Clippers the idea has always been to acquire assets and move towards this summer’s free agency with as much room as possible. This trade allows the team to do just that. Both Mike Muscala and Wilson Chandler have expiring contracts this summer while Landry Shamet was the 76ers first round pick in the 2018 draft and has shown some great potential. Averaging 8.3 points per game while shooting 40% from long range, the Clippers continue to add shooting to that young guard core they’re building.
While the 3 players coming over in the deal are solid, this deal was more than likely made for those 4 draft picks. The 2021 first round pick from Miami in particular is a coveted one throughout the NBA.
This provides the Clippers some assets if needed in a trade to acquire a star, or at the very least some great draft capital for the future. This deal essentially ends the Clippers playoff run for this season, which in turn could land LA another draft pick as missing the playoffs means they keep their lottery protected pick that belongs to the Celtics.
Best of luck to Tobias Harris, Boban Marjanovic and Mike Scott in Philly and wherever they might land in the future. These guys helped the Clippers achieve much more than most thought they could this season and have been very exciting to watch up until their last game on the squad, when they came back from trailing by 20 in the second half at Charlotte.
