Clippers Come Out On Top Over Lakers; 114-87
- Updated: January 7, 2015
The Los Angeles Clippers took over tonight’s game against the Los Angeles Lakers, beating the same-city team 114-87.
Kobe Bryant returned for the Lakers tonight despite missing the previous game. He started the game with a turnover on the first possession. He also struggled with shooting. The Clippers created a lead early and held onto it tight. The Lakers were only able to get within 8 points in the first quarter.
When the second quarter started, the Lakers cut the Clippers lead to 36-29, but this didn’t last long. The Clips were able to get the lead back into double digits after J.J. Redick created a four point play and Blake Griffin was at the rim. This is where the Lakers began to fall apart as they were unable to get defensive stops and ended the half down 70-48.
Defense plagued them again in the third as the lead grew to 34 in favor of the Clippers. Turnovers were another big issue for the Lakers, and Nick Young scored his first points of the night after not adding to their point total for three straight minutes.
The Clippers shined in the Lakers downfalls and were able to create a winning formula and sticking to it. Blake Griffin was just shy of a triple-double with nine rebounds and eight assists, and racked up 27 points. Jeremy Clarkson led the Lakers with 14 points.
Tarik Black made his debut for the Lakers tonight after being claimed off of waivers and Steve Ballmer made the internet incredibly happy as he …danced?? to Fergie’s performance.
