Clayton Kershaw Dominates as Dodgers Cruise Past Mets

In what was hyped up to be a pitchers duel, turned out to be pretty one-sided. It didn’t take long for the Dodgers to rattle Bartolo Colon. In the bottom of the first, just two pitches into the game, the Dodgers already had runners at the corners with back-to-back singles from Chase Utley and Corey Seager.

Justin Turner drove Chase Utley in with a line drive base hit to left field. Yasmani Grandal gets his turn after Adrian Gonzalez flies to right, and belts it to the center-field bleachers, to give the Dodgers a 4-0 lead.

Chase Utley then homered the next inning, giving the Dodgers a 5-0 lead, the last run they’d score that game. He showed that he likes to hit lead-off as he went on to have a 3-4 night.

Colon definitely buckled in and cruised through his remaining 3 innings, but the Dodgers lead was too steep a hill for the Mets, especially with Clayton Kershaw on the mound.

The Dodgers sparking offense didn’t get too much of the limelight as Kershaw pitched his fifth consecutive game with double-digit strikeouts, the first Dodgers pitcher to do so since 1913.

Prior to tonight’s game, Clayton Kershaw had won 6 of his last 8 against the New York Mets. His dominance put yet another tally in the win column.

Kershaw pitched a complete-game shutout, with 13 strikeouts, 1 BB, 3 H, and 0 ER.

The Dodgers finished the series off on a high note, by winning two out of three. They’ve struggled at home since the season begun, this series win against a first-place Mets was big to say the least.

The Dodgers get set to host a three-game set against the St.Louis Cardinals beginning at 7:10 P.M. Friday night, Ross Stripling vs. Michael Wacha.
