What we witnessed the other day, was just another brilliant performance from the best pitcher in baseball. Clayton Kershaw was on his “A” game once again and Dodgers fans are just very blessed to see him pitch and to enjoy his dominated performance every time he takes the hill. Kershaw is simply a master and he makes pitching a thing of art. The Dodgers in their history has been known for great pitchers like Sandy Koufax, Don Drysdale, Orel Hershiser and Fernando Valenzuela, but he has the ability to eclipse them all.
On May 26, the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Atlanta Braves 8-0, Kershaw went seven strong innings and struck out ten Braves in the process. Several players fell victim to strikeout, including Braves first baseman Freddie Freeman who struck out four times against Kershaw. This performance was just amazing, as batters look dazed and confused against him.
Kershaw is 27 years old and already has 101 victories in his major league career and at this rate, he should win close to 290, or maybe even 300 before his career ends. I had a chance to see him live in Philadelphia last season, when he pitched six innings in a two hit shutout of the Phillies, striking out nine. His performance that night reminds me of Nolan Ryan, because when a great pitcher is on the mound, he’s able to pitch a no-hitter at any time and I expected one that night.
As Dodgers fans, we are a great fan base and with Clayton Kershaw on our side, the Dodgers and baseball is much better.
