Chris Paul Receives Costly Technical Foul
- Updated: February 4, 2016
In last night’s Los Angeles Clipper game Los Angeles was down two without the ball. J.J. Redick and Chris Paul attempted a trap at halfcourt on Ricky Rubio when Redick bumped Rubio where the foul was called.
The bump was very minimal and Paul was upset with the call. He barked at the official and started walking way when he picked up the technical foul that pretty much ended the game.
Now Austin Rivers had received two technical fouls within a matter of seconds early in the second quarter. Once Rivers was ejected that quickly you knew it was going to be one of those games.
Was the Rivers ejection warranted? No. Do the Clippers have a terrible reputation with officials? Absolutely. We’ve spoke on this issue before but the Clippers need to start focusing on the game and not the officials.
We’ve all heard the saying “control what you can control” and this is a perfect example. J.A. Adande of ESPN.com reported on some post game comments from Doc Rivers.
Doc Rivers said he was told the Chris Paul technical foul was for an “overt clap.”

Jay Williams and Marc Jackson who were commentating the game as part of ESPN’s Crossover series were both displeased with the technical.
As a former player you have to focus on playing your game and not the officials. Either way they are going to make mistakes, they are human just like you.
Los Angeles will now head to Orlando to take on the Magic on Friday night.
