Chris Paul and Blake Griffin were on the same page tonight working the pick and roll perfectly. Paul told ESPN.com this about the pick and roll game:
This is our fourth year together and obviously your game changes and evolves and stuff like that, but we both realize our bread and butter used to be when I would attack downhill and he was rolling to the basket,” Paul said. “So we are trying to mix that in more.”
Paul ended the game 22 points and 15 assists, while Blake Griffin scored 22 points grabbed 16 rebounds and had 9 assists of his own. With tonight’s performance Paul passed Jerry West on the all time assists list placing Paul in the top 25 all time.
The big reason for the Clippers victory was there efficiency from behind the arc. Jamal Crawford scored 21 points, and J.J. Redick added 17. The two guards hit 9 threes combined and the Clippers hit 15 of 32 as a team. On the other hand the Hornets hit just 2 of their 20 three point attempts.
Charlotte continues to struggle to get on the same page. They have lost 8 of their last 9 games and Lance Stephenson doesn’t seem to be blending in well with their core.
Cody Zeller recorded a career high. He scored 17 points and Al Jefferson scored 16 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. Kemba Walker added 15 points and 6 assists.
With the win the Clippers improve to 8-5 on the year. Up next for the Clippers is the Detroit Pistons. They will take on Detroit on Wednesday night.
