Chargers To Work On Philip Rivers Contract Extension

According to Michael Gehlken of UT-San Diego the San Diego Chargers will be working on a contract extension for franchise quarterback Philip Rivers.

General Manager Tom Telesco spoke to the media about the future of Philip Rivers and told ESPN.com this.

I still think he has a number of years left,” Telesco said. “I really do. He keeps himself in great condition. He’s always prepared. And he’s still playing at a high level. Now, anytime you have a star player that’s into his 30s, in my position you always have your eye on who’s the next guy. But I feel good about where Philip is.”

Rivers has spent his entire 11 year career with the Chargers and Charger faithful would love to see him retire with the team. He has battled injuries throughout his career but has never missed a start since he was named the full time quarterback back in 2006.

The Chargers will now focus on the draft and re-signing players now but sometime during the offseason they will get a deal done.
