Mager from Texas State University is a cornerback who experts believe will be more of a project for the Chargers. At 5’11, 201 pounds he is extremely aggressive and physical which suits him to be a safety but his size is fit for a corner.
Michael Gehlken of U-T San Diego reported how Chargers general manager Tom Telesco felt about the selection.
Tom Telesco on Craig Mager: “Feisty, aggressive, he can tackle. … We’re excited to add a corner with his size and physicality in the mix.”

The Chargers have been working to strengthen their defensive backs over the last year. Gehlken reported their investments.
Chargers investments at CB in past year include 1st-round pick Jason Verrett, $9M/year to Brandon Flowers, 3rd-round pick on Craig Mager.
