Chargers Lose To Panthers 28-16

Costly forced errors by the Carolina Panthers defense paved the way to a 28-16 win over the San Diego Chargers.

Philip Rivers was sacked five times and once in the
end-zone for a safety by Panthers defensive end Mario Addison. The team struggled against one of the better defensive units in the NFL, even though the Panthers was without their best defensive player, Luke Kuechly.

The Chargers lost two of their young stars in this game.
Melvin Gordon was carted off the field with a hip injury and he also suffered a twisted left wrist, when he attempted to pick up a loose ball. Joey Bosa suffered a neck injury and both players will be further evaluated for their injuries.

Rivers numbers was bad despite the three interceptions thrown. He connected for 236 yards and completed 21 of 39 passes thrown. The two touchdown were to Hunter Henry late in the second quarter and to Dontrelle Inman with
30 seconds left in the third quarter. Josh Lambo added a
32-yard field goal midway through the third, giving the Chargers their 10th point of the game at this point.

BOLT NOTES:

The Chargers out-gained the Panthers only by six yards, 278-272. The Panthers held the ball for over 32 minutes in this game while the Chargers possessed the ball for over 27 minutes of this game.

NEXT UP FOR THE CHARGERS:

The Chargers (5-8) The next opponent is a rivalry game with the Oakland Raiders (10-3). The team is still holding on to an outside chance to make the playoffs in the American Football Conference but after this game with Oakland, the team will travel to Cleveland to face the win-less Browns before ending the season at home with the Kansas City Chiefs.
