The San Diego Chargers dropped their fifth game of the season in a 27-19 loss in Denver to the Broncos.
The Chargers took a 7-3 lead in the first quarter, on a 7-yard touchdown pass from Philip Rivers to Antonio Gates. The touchdown was historic for Gates, as he was able to get into the end-zone for the 107th time in his career.
After the Broncos had taken a ten-point lead, Rivers hit Travis Benjamin on a 14-yard touchdown pass.
Casey Hayward got the Chargers closer to the lead in the fourth quarter, when he grabbed a 24-yard pass from Rivers, to cut the lead to five, at 24-19.
The Broncos defense got tougher as the game progressed, and the thoughts of revenge were setting in as they ended the Chargers hopes of a comeback. Rivers was intercepted late in the fourth quarter, which led to a 22-yard field goal from Brandon McManus, to seal the victory for Denver.
