Chargers Lose Home Opener, 38-28

The 2018 NFL season starts out on a sour note for the Los Angeles Chargers, as they lose at home to the Kansas City Chiefs, 38-28.

A quick three and out resulted into a 91-yard punt return form Tyreek Hill, the first of his three scores. Hill also scored on a 58-yard bomb from Patrick Mahomes and on a 1-yard pass in the fourth quarter. The Chargers scored their first points of the season on a 45-yard field goal from Caleb Sturgis.
Sturgis added a 39-yarder to cut the Chiefs lead to 14-6 with 0:21 seconds left in the first quarter.

Philip Rivers connected with Austin Ekeler for a 13-yard score with 7:47 left in the half to cut the score 14-12 after a failed two-point conversion. Rivers tossed two other touchdown passes to Keenan Allen and a late 4-yard pass to Tyrell Williams to end the scoring for the Chargers.

BOLT NOTES:

The Chargers have now lost nine-straight games to their divisional rivals. The defense allowed 382 yards, 258 passing and 106 on the ground. Tyreek Hill had 169 yards receiving, the second most on opening day in NFL history.

NEXT UP FOR THE CHARGERS:

LAC (0-1) will head East for the second game of the season to face the Buffalo Bills. The Bills (0-1) are coming off an embarrassing loss in Baltimore to the Ravens, 47-3. The Los Angeles defense should be able to slow down a very ineffective Bills offense.
