Chargers Lose A Heartbreaker To Denver, 31-10.
- Updated: November 3, 2020
The Los Angeles Chargers blew a 21-point lead that resulted in a 31-30 loss to the Denver Broncos in Denver yesterday afternoon.
The latest saga in 2020 seems to happen again as the Chargers weren’t able to hold a lead after playing a great game. A week after beating the Jacksonville Jaguars in the first-ever game that featured a 39-29 score, this week was so different.
After the Broncos took an early 3-0 lead, the Chargers answered with 14 points to hold a 14-3 halftime lead. Los Angeles built a solid and comfortable lead at 24-10 at the end of the third quarter, but things changed dramatically in the fourth.
Denver scored early in the fourth with a 9-yard touchdown pass from Drew Lock to Albert Okwuegbunam, but the Chargers lead was cut to 24-17. Mike Badgley extended the lead to ten, 27-17. Lock found DaeSean Hamilton on a 40-yard strike to cut the lead to three at 27-24. Badgley gave the Chargers a 30-24 lead with only 2:30 left in the game. The Broncos were not finished and Lock moved the Broncos 81-yards in 14 plays that set up the final play of the game, an unbelievable catch in the back of the endzone to KJ Hamler. The play was reviewed several times by the officials and the play was confirmed as a touchdown with no time remaining. Brandon McManus kicked the extra point to give the Broncos the victory.
Justin Herbert was good, completing 29/43 for 278 yards with 3 touchdowns and 2 ints. Justin Jackson was amazing as the lead running back in the absents of Ekeler, rushing for 99-yards on 17 carries. Mike Williams led all receivers with 99-yards on 5 receptions.
The Chargers will face their rivals the Las Vegas Raiders in Vegas. This will be the first meeting of the season for the Raiders and Chargers this season, and the first game in the Raiders’ new home.
