Chargers Lose A Heartbreaker To Denver, 23-22

After six-straight wins, the Denver Broncos slow down the Los Angeles Chargers, 23-22.

In the return of Defensive End Joey Bosa the team loses defensive tackle Corey Liuget and linebacker Denzel Perryman for the season with both with knee injuries.

Give credit to the rookie trio of Royce Freeman, Courtland Sutton, and Phillip Lindsey, they all had big plays that changed the outlook of this game. Von Miller intercepted Philip Rivers to stall a drive that would have sealed the win for the Chargers.

Rivers stats, 26 of 43 for 401 yards and two touchdowns and two interceptions. Melvin Gordon led the team on the ground with 18 rushes for 69 yards. Keenan Allen led the team in receiving with 9 catches for 89 yards. Allen’s frustration got the better of him when he was quoted “Denver sucks.”
The team committed a season-high 14 penalties for 120 yards.

Mike Badgley was perfect in field goals, connecting from 46,45, and 30 yards but missed an extra point after the Rivers to Gates touchdown, that would have extended the lead 20-7, but the score at 19-7 gave the Broncos a chance to overcome that deficit. The Broncos ran 7 plays that covered 78 yards and as time ran out, Brandon McManus hit a 34-yard field goal to give the Broncos a one-point win.

NEXT UP FOR THE CHARGERS:

The Arizona Cardinals (2-8) will visit Carson to face the Chargers (7-3). The game will be one of the three late afternoon games that will start after 4 pm.
