Chargers End Season With A 31-21 Loss To Kansas City.
- Updated: December 30, 2019
One of the most disappointing seasons in the Los Angeles Chargers history has come to an end, with a 31-21 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.
Before the game, the front office of the team made it clear that Head Coach Anthony Lynn will be back next season. The Chargers held several leads in this game but wasn’t able to hold the Chiefs when needed.
In the second quarter, Philip Rivers hooked up with Keenan Allen for a 12-yard touchdown pass to give the Chargers a
7-3 lead. The third quarter started with a 5-yard run to extend the Chargers lead to 14-10. On the initial kickoff, rookie wide receiver Mecole Hardman returned the kick 104-yards to give the Chiefs the lead for good. Damien Williams scored a pair of touchdowns in the third and fourth quarters to put the game out of reach.
The Chargers end the season 5-11 and 0-8 in the AFC West.
This team should not have been as bad this season, but the injuries and holdouts and the team’s chemistry wasn’t in the place it should have been. After a great 2018 and a playoff berth, the team just played flat all season.
Now there are many questions to be answered in the offseason. The main question is quarterback Philip Rivers returning to the team. For the Chiefs, they will head to the postseason as the AFC West Champs and they will host their first-round game.
