Chargers Embarrassed By Patriots, 45-0
- Updated: December 9, 2020
There were no excuses for the lack of performance in the game between the New England Patriots and the Los Angeles Chargers, in a 45-0 blow win for the Patriots.
This was the worst loss for the Chargers in several years, as the Patriots are not the same as we know them. Cam Newton had a very poor game and was replaced by quarterback Jarrett Stidham. Newton’s worst day as a pro, going 12 for 19, 69 yards passing with a 5-yard touchdown pass to N’Keal Harry.
Mistakes were the low point in this game for the Chargers as on three separate punts by the Patriots, the Chargers did not have the correct numbers of players on the field. No Chargers players were able to see the endzone in this game as the Pats defense put a hold on the Chargers offense. The Patriots special teams blocked Mike Badgley’s 44-yard field goal attempt that was returned for a touchdown by Devin McCourty before the end of the first half.
The Chargers will try to bounce back for this one as they will face the last NFC South opponent, the Atlanta Falcons. The Falcons has had a very inconsistent season, looking good like several weeks ago in a win over the Raiders, and looking really bad like losing to the Cowboys in week two, after misplaying an onsides kick. The Chargers will play their final three games within the division after their battle with Atlanta.
