Philip Rivers had one of his best games of the season as the Los Angeles Chargers manhandled the Jacksonville Jaguars, 45-10.
Rivers hushed the critics by throwing for over 300-yards and 3 touchdowns and no interceptions. Austin Ekeler was the star of the game, leading the team in both rushing (101 yards) and receiving (112 yards) including a spectacular 84-yard screen pass that was one of the longest plays from scrimmage for the Chargers this season.
Mike Williams caught his first touchdown of the season on a 44-yard pass for Rivers. Derek Watt got into the scoring column on a 1-yard run midway through the second quarter.
Rivers left the game in the fourth quarter with the Chargers well in hand. Tyrod Taylor came in and went 3 for 5 for 26 yards and a touchdown pass to tight end Virgil Green.
This was just what the Chargers needed. Jacksonville hasn’t been the same since the return of their starting quarterback Nick Foles. Foles was benched at halftime of their previous game when they were outplayed by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The Chargers are now 5-8 and will return home for a date with Minnesota. The Vikings had no problem in their last contest, beating the Detriot Lions, 20-7.
