Austin Ekeler scored three times and clinched the win for the Los Angeles Chargers in overtime over the Indianapolis Colts, 30-24.
Ekeler was dominated and made a strong case for the featured running back for the team in the absence of Melvin Gordon. A career day for the 3rd year running back, 154 total yards from scrimmage which included the seven-yard run that was the game-winner.
Not to overlook Justin Jackson‘s 6 carries for 57 yards and a very nice 24-yard run. Philip Rivers was Philip Rivers, 25/34 333 yards and 3 touchdown passes. Two passes to Ekeler and a 28-yard pass to Keenan Allen. Allen had another great game with 8 catches for 123 yards.
Mike Willams was the only player that suffered an injury in the season opener, a knee injury in the fourth quarter did not allow him to return to this game.
The Chargers (1-0) will take on the Detriot Lions (0-0-1) next Sunday in Detriot. The Lions are returning home after an overtime tie with Arizona.
