California NBA Betting Considerations
- Updated: October 8, 2016
The NBA is making its way back, so let’s look at some betting lines and props for our Cali NBA teams.
Golden State Warriors
The champs from 2 years look to avenge their loss in last year’s finals, and are a good bet to do so. The Warriors signed Kevin Durant this summer while losing only minor pieces (it has yet to be seen how ‘minor’ these players are, but safe to say Kevin Durant is leagues ahead of any player that they lost). The Warriors are the favorites to win the championship and the prohibitive favorites to win the Western Conference. It’s not like you’re going to win a lot of money on this bet, as the Warriors do not have long odds–but it could be seen as a safe bet to take the Warriors winning the WCF & Finals while hedging with a similar bet on the Cleveland Cavaliers. Unfortunately for NBA fans looking for diversity in the finals–it looks like we’ll see Golden State and Cleveland in the finals for the 3rd year in a row.
Los Angeles Clippers
The Clippers season in 2016 was derailed in the playoffs by injuries to key players, collapsing a team that some believe could have challenged for the West. The Clip show returns the same core, including Point God Chris Paul, Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan. With these 3 in tow, the Clippers look to maintain their status as NBA elites. With a win total over/under of 53.5, the Vegas sharps are considering this team about as good as last year. The big thing to point out, however, is how injury ridden the Clippers were last year while STILL arriving at 53 wins. If you think CP3, Blake and DJ can stay healthy, you gotta take the over on this one.
Sacramento Kings
Ugh the Kings, perpetually in a state of disarray and general hopelessness, look to maintain this status throughout the 2016-2017 season. DeMarcus Cousins is a star, and offering +3300 odds on an MVP win. Truly a darkhorse candidate, it is an interesting bet. If the Kings can somehow flip the switch and become a contender in the West, surely Cousins would get MVP buzz? With Durant and Curry splitting votes up in Oakland, maybe the Sac-town star could swoop in and take it? Not likely, but, hey, it’s the Kings, who knows what could happen. If you bet on DeMarcus for MVP–just to clarify, you will be gambling with your balls and I might recommend a betser bonus code to start your balls vs brains gaming.
Los Angeles Lakers
Once (and probably still) the biggest draw in Los Angeles, the Lakers have stuck on hard times while their Staples Center roommates are thriving. Icon and Laker talisman Kobe Bryant has retired, but Lakers fans are excited about #2 pick Brandon Ingram, a lanky sharp shooting swingman with huge potential. The Lakers are expected to win 24.5 games, which is to say, they probably won’t be good, but with young players like Ingram, D’Angelo Russell and Larry Nance Jr, this may be a team put a little money on just to follow the squad. The Lakers should be high paced and exciting, and probably won’t play any defense, so I’d bet the total points OVER on most Laker games.
It should be an exciting season once again for many California sports fans and bettors, should be a great season. If you’re going to gamble online, my last tip would be to look for sportsbooks with bonus codes, like the Betser bonus mentioned earlier. If casinos want to give you free value, I suggest you take it!
