- Updated: February 3, 2016
Dustin Brown scored two goals and the LA Kings powered past the Arizona Coyotes 6-2 on Tuesday night. For Los Angeles the time off looked to serve them well.
For Arizona Jordan Martinook got Yotes on the board first. He scored his 6th goal of the season, wrist shot goal and the Coyotes held a 1-0 lead.
A few minutes later Jamie McBain picked up an interference penalty against Viktor Tikhonov. Nothing came out of the power play. With about two minutes left in the period the two got into a little scuffle that resulted in a series of penalties.
Max Domi picked up a roughing penalty against Luke Schenn. Schenn picked up a charging penalty against Oliver Ekman-Larsson that was served by Jordan Nolan. Schenn also picked up a roughing penalty against Domi. About a minute later Shane Doan picked up a boarding penalty against Jake Muzzin and after the first period the Yotes held a 1-0 advantage.
The second period began with a Conor Murphy roughing penalty against Brown. Muzzin took advantage of the power play and scored a wrist shot goal. It was his sixth goal of the year and was assisted by Anze Kopitar (30) and Drew Doughty (19).
A few minutes later Anthony Duclair scored a wrist shot goal to answer back. It was his fourteenth goal of the year and was assisted by Domi (20).
Tobias Rieder picked up a cross checking penalty against Brayden McNabb. Alec Martinez scored a power play goal for his sixth of the season. His slap shot goal was assisted by Doughty (20) and Kopitar (31) to tie the score at 2-2.
Arizona picked up yet another penalty in the period. Domi picked up a Hi-sticking against Trevor Lewis that gave the LA Kings another chance. Los Angeles was unable to make anything out of it, and Schenn picked up a cross checking against Domi.
As the period began to wind down Marian Gaborik scored his tenth goal of the year. His wrist shot goal was assisted by Dwight King (3) and LA lead 3-2.
Before fans at home could finish celebrating Brown scored a slap shot goal just twelve seconds later. Brown’s slap shot goal was assisted by Milan Lucic (18) and Luke Schenn (5) and put LA 4-2 after two periods.
Already with a comfortable lead Brown scored his second goal of the night in the third period. Brown scored a wrist shot goal for his seventh of the season and was assisted by Muzzin (23) and Nick Shore (5).
Frustration started to mount for the Yotes. Ekman-Larsson picked up a hooking penalty against Tyler Toffoli. Nothing came out of the power play but a few minutes later Micheal Stone picked up a holding penalty against Brown.
This penalty would cost the Yotes once against as Vincent Lecavalier scored his fifth goal of the season, a tip-in shot. Alec Martinez (12) and McBain (6) were credited with the assists.
Lucic picked up a slashing penalty against Ekman-Larsson later in the period but nothing came out of it. Duclair picked up hooking penalty against Tanner Pearson in the period as well.
