Roberts will become the first minority manger in Dodgers history. Roberts played in the majors for ten years including time with the Dodgers.
Roberts joined the San Diego Padres as a first base coach in 2011. He was one of the early favorites for the Dodgers job and reports surfaced that he was extremely impressive during his interviews.
He joins the team full of championship aspirations. Roberts replaces Don Mattingly who managed the team for 5 seasons.
The organization and Mattingly mutually parted ways this offseason. Now that the Dodgers have figured out their managerial situation they will now focus on free agency.
There are many question marks surrounding pitching that the Dodgers will look to address.
