Blake Griffin To Undergo Knee Surgery

Griffin

The Los Angeles Clippers confirmed Monday afternoon that Power Forward Blake Griffin will indeed have to undergo knee surgery.

After Sunday nights 117-110 loss to the Washington Wizards reports began to circulate that Griffin had been feeling some discomfort in the knee for some time.

After arriving back in Los Angeles on Monday he met with team doctors who confirmed surgery was necessary.

He is expected to miss 3-6 weeks which would put him back with the team after January. If this is the case, the Clippers will be without their leading scorer and superstar big man for at least 20 games.

This injury coming on the heels of Griffin notching his place once more in Clippers basketball history as he surpassed Elton Brand as the team’s third leading scorer of all time in that contest against the Wizards.

Replacing the 4-time All-Star will be a difficult task for a Clipper team trying to compete for one of those vaunted home court playoff positions.

However this team has plenty of options to do so with the likes of Wesley Johnson, Brandon Bass and Austin Rivers potentially working their way into the lineup based on matchup. Not a huge fan of Paul Pierce getting the nod in this case as his age has definitely began to show in recent performances but I’m sure coach Doc Rivers will be looking at every option.
