Blake Griffin & Kobe Bryant Selected To Start For All-Star Game
- Updated: January 23, 2015
The NBA made an announcement today regarding the starting lineups for the NBA All-Star game.
This year the fans were in charge, and they selected Blake Griffin as well as Kobe Bryant, to join the starting lineup for the Western Conference All-Stars. The two are also joined by Stephen Curry, Anthony Davis, and Marc Gasol. We will have to wait to see how serious Kobe Bryant’s shoulder injury is tomorrow to gauge his playing ability.
The East will be composed of LeBron James, Pau Gasol, Carmelo Anthony, John Wall and Kyle Lowry. Steve Kerr will be the coach the West, while Mike Budenholzer (Atlanta Hawks) will man the bench for the East.
This will mark the fourth straight year of being selected for Blake Griffin while Kobe has been selected 17 times in his last 19 years with the team.
Griffin had this to say about being selected, as per NBA.com:
“It is a great honor to make the All-Star team,” Griffin said. “I want to thank all of the fans who voted for me as a starter. I am excited to represent the Clippers and Los Angeles in New York City next month.”
They also report:
“Paul, who’s been named an All-Star for seven straight seasons, finished fourth in the Western Conference All-Star voting for guards this year. He got in on the coaches’ vote last season and was the All-Star MVP as a starter the year prior.”
Congrats to both teams for having a player represent the city of LA!
