According to multiple reports, the Los Angeles Clippers star Blake Griffin could return to play as soon as Sunday.

As of today, Blake Griffin has been out of the game for a full three weeks after undergoing surgery to remove a staph infection in his right elbow. Coach Doc Rivers placed the idea in everyone’s mind that he could back by the end of the week.

As ESPN.com reports:

“I know he’s running and sweating and going full-tilt now,” Rivers said. “That’s good. I’m not sure what that means, not being there, but I know he’s working, and that’s all you can hope for. It’s a good sign.”

When Rivers was asked if Griffin was able to return to basketball activities, he said, “Yeah, I think so — shooting.”

Although nothing is confirmed and Doc is playing it cool by not giving up any possible deadlines, he did admit that the Clippers’ game against Golden State could be a possibility.

ESPN.com reports that a team source informed them Blake has not started to shoot yet, but he will begin to get shots up this week. He is “wildly optimistic” of his possibilities of playing Sunday but some time next week might be more realistic.

There is also no news yet on Matt Barnes‘ projected return due to the Clippers’ current spaced out schedule.
